# How to Get an Email When a Website Changes

*Updated September 6, 2026*

There are a few ways to get an email when a website changes: a page monitor such as Visualping or changedetection.io, a browser extension, the site's own RSS feed or 'notify me' button, or one sentence handed to MailMeWhen, which needs no account or app.

A price page, a job listing, a 'sold out' button, a notice that might be updated, a page you refresh every morning hoping something moved. Checking by hand works right up until the day you forget.

## Ways to watch a website for changes

1. Page monitors: Visualping, Distill or changedetection.io take a snapshot of a page and compare it on a schedule. They're capable, but the setup is yours: pick the part of the page to watch, tune how often it checks, and learn to ignore false alarms when an ad or a date rotates.
2. Browser extensions: they do the same job with less power — and only while that browser is open on that computer.
3. RSS feeds and 'notify me' buttons: for sites that offer them, this is the cleanest route. Most pages don't.

## One sentence for a website-change alert

With MailMeWhen you write down the page and what counts as a change worth knowing about — 'when the price on this page drops below 200', 'when this notice is updated', 'when a new date appears'. We watch it and write to you only when it happens.

Most of the pages we watch belong to somebody's working day: a competitor's pricing page, a supplier's price list, a policy or tender notice, a page someone now opens by hand every morning. Name the number or the line that matters and you hear from us only when that one moves.

The first 7 days are free with no payment details; after that it's $5/month for that one page, and it stops by itself if you don't subscribe. Reply once to stop at any time.

## Good to know about website-change alerts

Be specific about which part matters. 'Tell me when the page changes' fires on every ad rotation; 'tell me when the delivery date changes' fires only when it should.

Pages behind a login, or that need a click to reveal the content, are the hard cases — we'll tell you honestly if it's one we can't watch.

## Try it — hand us this sentence:

> Watch this page for me: [paste the link]. Email me when the price on it drops, or when it says 'in stock' again.

## Common questions

**How often is the page checked?**

There is no interval to set. Say in your request how quickly you need to know — 'the same day is fine' or 'once a week is enough' — and the first letter, within 24 hours, confirms what is being watched and how. Until the change you described happens, you hear nothing.

**Can you watch a page that needs a login?**

No. Pages behind a login, or pages that need a click to reveal the content, are ones we can't watch, and the first letter says so honestly. Public pages — a price, a notice, a job listing, a stock status — are the normal case.

**How do I avoid false alarms from ads or rotating content?**

Name the part that matters instead of the whole page — 'the price', 'the delivery date', 'the words in stock'. An ad rotating or a date ticking over elsewhere on the page then doesn't count. You write it in plain words; there is nothing to select or configure.
